2025 Read Bowl

The Georgia Council on Literacy and Georgia READS representatives gathered at the Capitol in Atlanta, Georgia to recognize the nation's 2025 Read Bowl and Georgia Reads Award Winners. The Charlton County School SystemFerst Readers Co-president, Mandy Jackson, and the WWLTC, Outreach Ministry team leaders, Sheila Smith and Pastor Ruby Davis represented the Charlton County Community Team and were recognized for their partnerships, literacy-focused community events, and proven literacy improvements. They were provided $25,000 to bolster their current literacy efforts to impact their birth to five projects in the community. Additionally, the school system and community will be recognized locally in March or April, and Bethune Middle School (BMS) is the fortunate recipient of a free visit from Malcolm Mitchell, UGA football player, Super Bowl Champion, CEO & Founder of the Share the Magic Foundation. He also serves as the Georgia Reads Coach and will lead BMS in a Reading Rally in the near future.
